I'm not even sure where to start with this review. The only reason this gets 2 stars is because Maxine in the office was amazing, and the first 3 guys were decently nice.

We have been planning this move for a little over a year, with more details set a few months ago and locked down into specifics when we scheduled a month ago, to move 2 apartments into a townhouse.

3 men were sent for the move, and instantly complained about the heat and stairs to my apartment as soon as they arrived. They were not equipped for this move, physically or with equipment. They used my tools to disassemble most of my furniture, and we moved a lot of boxes to the front door, disassembled furniture ourselves, just to make the move quicker so they could move on to my boyfriend's apartment after taking 3 hours to empty a 2 bedroom apartment, even after recruiting my friends for help. We were also charged for 2 mattress bags and 3 mirror cartons, they did not use any mirror cartons (they taped my one mirror for transport, we moved all other ourselves the night before), and only used a bag on my mattress - my box spring was not bagged and is torn.

They moved on to my boyfriend's apartment, which had a loading dock and elevator, while I moved on to the new place. My boyfriend and 2 of my friends were helping them the entire time, which still took almost 3 hours because they insisted on taking apart furniture we were throwing away, dumpster diving in the things thrown out from college students in the building, and 2 of the guys disappearing for over an hour while the 3rd was taking double dolly loads down to the truck.

They finally show up to our new place, 6 hours after it started (for what was quoted to be a 5-7 hour move). They instantly started complaining again, were careless with boxes, being rude to my friends and boyfriend. One guy fell pulling up a box on a dolly, one repeatedly told us he was going to throw up (he actually ended up bleeding on my stairs). Halfway through unloading, they said that "help" was "maybe" being sent, which 1 was nasty, rude, hateful man who also was too old to be doing, and another who never set foot in the house, these guys by the way had just came off of a 9 hour move. He was yelling at the other 3 that they were arguing too much and taking so long, throwing my boxes upstairs (2 of which we have found so far are broken), yelled at me and my friends for how things were packed. I finally asked that they leave everything on the first floor so it would get done and they would leave, which they ignored. We were also told if the "help" and the older gentleman from the first group left, the business would close.

They never took proper breaks, EXPECTED us to have cold drinks for them (water was available to refill their bottles at all locations, and Gatorade at the new place), and we fed them pizza. They were not physically equipped to do this move, I'm certain this violated several labor laws, caused damage, had horrendous customer service, and cost us over $1,000 and several hours over what we were quoted because they were so ill prepared. My boyfriend and I are both coming off of severe injuries, which is why we hired movers. I was also excited to support a local, family owned business. I had never heard of Don Farr before, and now I see why.

I will be speaking to the office about our experience first thing on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday), correcting the $1,000 over charge, and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I wouldn't recommend hiring them to my worst enemy. Save yourself thousands, rent a U-Haul and hire their contracted movers.

Whatever you do to move, do not call Don Farr for any reason, particularly if you're moving.

Below is what I sent to their complaint department 5 days ago by email. I haven't heard a thing from them and you cannot call and complain. You have to leave a message on the phone with your name, phone number, contract #, the address that she was moving to. Then they will send a package to my house with forms. Then we would have to fill out all the forms and mail it back to them. and they will mail it to you by snail mail. Or you can email them a list of your complained and they'll get right back to you. Plus the message was read so fast that I had to call them five times to listen to the message so that i could write down what it said.

Both of us are disabled, elderly women and had to move a lot of things that were heavy off the bed but also through the day while the movers were here.

Placed many objects, including the queen size mattress at the bottom of the stairs and in front of a door blocking the door completely and nearly blocking the stairs.

Of the boxes and objects which were marked very clearly as either 2nd floor or basement were placed in the wrong location and her new bed was entirely covered in boxes and bags, after I had told one of the movers not to place anything on the bed. Some of the boxes were so heavy that between the two of us we moved them all off the bed or emptied the heavier boxes one piece at a time. My new roommate needed to go to sleep so we had to clean off the bed.

They entirely destroyed one of her bookshelves by moving the bookshelves with all the shelves still in them. They should have taken the shelves out before moving.

Movers left several items in a couple of smaller boxes plus a very large heavy box full of some of her clothes at the apartment. When she went back to clean it was too large and heavy for her to move herself. Her car is now crammed full of all of that stuff and needs to be emptied and brought into the house. She was very upset that she couldn't bring it with her but she couldn't move it herself. Now she's out all those clothes and there was nothing she could do about it.

After they carried her dark blue dresser upstairs, they banged it twice on my wall so there are two dents that are colored blue on a pale green wall. Plus while they were moving stuff into another room they gouged a big chunk out of the door frame which entirely ruined it.

So far that's all we've been able to find but I know there's more. If I do not hear from them by tomorrow, I will call my lawyer and let him deal with it.

If you have a move coming up, do not call Don Farr to do it.

UPDATE: SOMEONE ON THE FOUR MEN TEAM THAT MOVED MY FRIEND STOLE HER WALLET WITH HER DRIVER'S LICENSE & CREDIT CARDS ETC. NOW SHE REALIZED THEY ALSO STOLE PRIVATE DOCS, EX. HER PASSPORT WHICH IS A FEDERAL OFFENSE. A DETECTIVE WILL BE CONTACTING HER TOMORROW!

Yesterday my 80+ year old parents moved from a very large house to an apartment. Harper, Garth, Griffin, and Bull were their movers. I was there for the entire process. I will say without a doubt these young men where professional, polite, patient, kind, and very hard working. My parents were overwhelmed with the process and these guys were so above kind and considerate with them. Nothing got damaged, nothing was missed, they finished sooner than the original quote which saved my parents money. My husband and I have dealt with a couple moving companies both personally and professionally, and these particular 4 young men where A+. Kudos to Don Farr for presenting very efficient workers. I would NOT hesitate to recommend this company and these young men specifically!

I’m giving 4 stars for this review, being as though your movers were so very excellent with the care of my property. They came in and executed very well in a timely manner.
Milligan Garth stood out from the others more so with his charismatic personality & the way he spoke was very impressive. He gave me some comfort knowing the care they are going to provide. I had many pieces of property that are very sentimental to me & I was very unsure with the move how well my things would hold up during the move. Sure enough everything he suggested they did evidently worked out & none of my property got broken or destroyed. Thank you Don Farr for the amazing service.

I used Don Farr years ago for a move, and recommended them to others. I was satisfied with them as were those I recommended them to. I moved recently and contacted them. They weren’t the lowest quote I received, but the price was good and I felt that the history would assure me of a good quality service. The crew pulled up to my house and started playing basketball while I was disconnecting my washer and dryer, I had to to tell them to quit. Twice more during the day they took a break and shot baskets. There was some damage to a wall at my old house. The damage was documented and submitted, and I was assured that I’d hear from someone within 24 hours. I did not, and had to make arrangements to repair the damage myself. I was also told they couldn’t get my treadmill out of the house without disassembling it. Another team specializing in moving it would come out the next day. They did, moved it without disassembling it, but charged me an extra $150. I’m very disappointed with Don Farr Moving.

update I posted on their Facebook and they blocked me.

Thanks to one of your drivers for ripping out all of the power and internet lines leaving a full neighborhood without power phone and internet. Thankfully the police caught up to your driver and got his information. Not even a sorry from the driver who MULTIPLE neighbors watched. I would never recommend you to move a dead squirrel from the road. Horrible.

Beware. This is not a professional moving company.
They subcontract with Deily movers. They give a quote (a worst case scenario) and work by the hour , the estimate not even in same ball park.
I took photos after an 1 hour of moving to show the person in charge (James) that 2 chairs had been moved in 45 minutes. I had in the mean time carried 9 heavy boxes and filled up my van and car. All they had to carry was furniture. The 2 chairs and a sofa was most of the small living room contents. I carried the sofa with the old man after I watched him struggle and let it fall off of a dolly and attempt to drag it.
They sent 2 elderly men who went missing numerous times. They were in their truck taking smoke breaks. They get paid by the hour!!! I don’t know how many smoke breaks were taken, but they were missing numerous times.
They broke a mirror and never mentioned it. They locked the elevator in the building and hid so the time would keep adding up.
They moved 2 efficiency sized rooms of furniture and it took them 7 hours.
They never carried furniture together, they were always by themselves…. I called at least 4 times asking for help, I was made to prove myself each time. I had sent photos twice and was told that was normal amount for time spent?!?!? I wish that I could post photos.
I chose them because they were a little less money. Do yourself a service and get a reputable mover.
Please read all of the other reviews, they are similar in complaint and some much worse.
Businesses like this who take advantage of people in a situation as hard as moving should be stopped. I hope this helps someone!!!

I’ve moved at least 6 times in 15 years, and this was the best and easiest move I’ve ever had. Thank you Woods, Griffin, and Marcus for making what could be stressful so simple and fast. From my initial call to Don Farr to the actual move, everyone was professional and very helpful. I will be requesting the team of Woods, Griffin, and Marcus again for a family member’s upcoming move.
